ThDr. Petr Jan Vinš is a Czech theologian, priest and translator. Born in Prague in 1982, he studied Theology and Religious Studies at the Charles University in Prague and Biblical Studies and Near Eastern Archaeology in Bern.
Since 2016 be serves as the Secretary General of the Ecumenical Council of Churches. He also teaches at the Institute for Middle East and Africa at the Charles University in Prague and leads a humanitarian project Cedar Cross in Beirut, Lebanon.
In 2018, he became one of the main organizers of the Red Wednesday campaign, which draws attention to persecution for the faith around the world.
